Which Top Seeds Are Bad Bets for March Madness Betting?

by BetUS.com
While some years produce more March Madness NCAA Tournament upsets than others, one thing devoted BetUS Sportsbook college basketball betting buffs can count on is the fact that one or more top-ranked ballclubs are going to undoubtedly fall at some point in this year’s big dance.
With that thought firmly in mind, I have taken to the task of pointing out the top seeds that are bad bets for BetUS Sportsbook March Madness college basketball betting fanatics!
BetUS Sportsbook expert college basketball handicapping advice will point out just which top seeds in each region are in danger of costing BetUS collegiate roundball bettors at some point before either making an early exit or failing to cover a spread that once looked ‘manageable’ at the very least.
East
No. 1 Ohio State
Sure, the Ohio State Buckeyes posted a fine 32-2 SU record this season, but they’ve also gone just 16-15 against the college basketball betting line this season as they’ve often failed to live up to oddsmakers expectations. Watch out for the Buckeyes if they have to face a desperate Villanova team in the third round.
No. 2 North Carolina
If you saw the North Carolina Tar Heels blowout loss to Duke in the ACC Final on Sunday, then you know the young Tar Heels are capable of a head-scratching loss at any moment – despite their plethora of blue chip talent. The Tar heels are just 3-5-1 against the college basketball betting line in their last nine games and look like they could be one of the biggest ‘Bad Bets’ for March Madness college basketball betting enthusiasts at some point in the tourney, if not necessarily the first time out.
No. 3 Syracuse
The Syracuse Orange are seriously talented (as usual) but I’m going on record to warn BetUS Sportsbook March Madness betting enthusiasts to watch out for the Orange’s uninspiring 14-17 ATS record this season as early as their third round contest against the winner of the Friday night Xavier-Marquette matchup.
No. 4 Kentucky
The Kentucky Wildcats could be in a spot of trouble of their own when they most likely meet the defensive-minded West Virginia Mountaineers. Kentucky has gone 4-5-1 ATS over its L/10 games – and that’s just very encouraging at this time of year!
West
I don’t think there’s any top seed in the West region that has the look of a bad bet in this season’s March Madness tournament, but I’d be worried about No. 1 Duke’s ability to cover the college basketball betting line when they face the winner of the Michigan-Tennessee second round matchup. The Wolverines are one of the hottest ATS teams in the tournament, having cashed in for betting backers in each of its last seven games and eight times in its last nine games overall.
Southeast
No. 3 BYU
The BYU Cougars may have the world’s best shooter on their squad in the unstoppable Jimmer Fredette, but the Cougars also screwed themselves by jettisoning freshman forward Brandon Davies and have alternated ATS wins and losses over each of their L/10 games. BetUS Sportsbook March Madness gamblers that are looking for a top seed that looks like a bad bet, need look no further than at the BYU Cougars are their uninspiring 14-16 ATS mark this season.
Southwest
No. 1 Kansas
Simply put, the Kansas Jayhawks are so talented that they generally face basketball odds that are almost unrealistic for them to cover. Kansas is just 1-4-1 against the college basketball odds over its L/6 games and could be in trouble against the spread as early as their first game against Boston University.
No. 3 Purdue
The Purdue Boilermakers have lost two consecutive games while failing to cash in against the college basketball odds in each of their last three games coming into the tournament and could very well be in ATS trouble in their first game against a St. Peter’s ballclub that has cashed in for March Madness betting enthusiasts in four straight and eight of its L/9 games overall.
