NIT Tournament Odds: Three Tuesday Games Thursday’s Sweet 16 - Colorado Buffaloes

There are three games on Tuesday, March 22, that college basketball betting fans can use to build their bankrolls before the Sweet 16 kicks off in the NCAA Tournament this Thursday.

In the NIT Tournament, Kent State takes on Colorado in what could be a hotly contested affair.  Then, in the College Insider Tournament, Buffalo battles Iona and Santa Clara takes on San Francisco.  Check out previews for all three games below.

March 22 – NCAAB Games

College Insider Tournament

- Buffalo Bulls (18-13) at Iona Gaels (22-11)
Where:  Hynes Athletic Center, New Rochelle, New York
When:  7:30 pm EST
TV: TBD

NCAAB OddsIona -8

Analysis:  There isn’t a bad college basketball odds trend for Iona this season. The Iona Gaels are 5 and 0 ATS in their last five non-conference games. The Gaels are also 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games versus a team with a losing road record.  Iona is 6 and 2 against the spread in their last eight games overall and averages close to 90 points per game when shooting close to 48% from the field per contest. Buffalo Bullsis 4 and 1 in their last five games as an underdog of 7 to 12 ½ points, but there are also some bad trends associated with the Bulls. Buffalo is 1 and 6 against the spread in their last seven games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game.  They are 1-5-2 ATS in their last eight games on the road. Iona should roll on March 22.

- Santa Clara Broncos (19-14) at San Francisco Dons (17-14)
Where:  War Memorial Gymnasium, San Francisco, California
When:  10:00 pm EST
TV:  TBD

NCAAB OddsSan Francisco -2 ½

Analysis:  This should be a very competitive game. When a game appears to be as competitive as this one, I prefer to back the home team.  I especially prefer to back the home team if they’re going off at what I consider to be fair basketball odds against the spread in the sportsbook.  The trends support San Francisco as well. The San Francisco Dons are 27-11-1 against the spread in their last 39 games overall. They are nine and three against the spread in their last 12 games following an against the spread victory. Santa Clara Broncos is 5-1-2 ATS in their last eight games versus a team with a winning straight up record, but the Broncos are also 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games on the road versus a team with a winning percentage above .600. I like San Francisco to cover the spread on Tuesday night.

NIT Tournament

7 Kent State Flashes (25-11) at 1 Colorado Buffaloes (23-13)
Where:  Coors Events Center, Boulder, Colorado
When:  9:00 pm EST
TV:  ESPN

NCAAB OddsColorado -9

Analysis:  Colorado is probably wondering why they didn’t get a berth to the NCAA Tournament. They beat Kansas State in the Big 12 Tournament and then lost by only 7 to  Kansas in their next Big 12 tourney game. Instead of crying about it, the Buffs have been absolutely brilliant in the NIT Tournament.  Buffalo goes into their Tuesday night game as -9 point basketball odds betting favorites after having put an 89 to 72 beat down on California in their last game. Colorado has now won seven out of their last ten games with two of their three losses coming at the hands of the Kansas Jayhawks. The Colorado Buffaloes are just a better team than Kent State who lost to Akron and Ohio in two out of their last ten games. The Buffs should absolutely pummel the Flashes on March 22.
