NCAA College Basketball Betting: NCAA Tournament Friday Night

by BetUS.com
The opening of the NCAA Tournament wasn’t short on shock value. Plenty of fantastic finishes and eye-popping upsets littered Thursday’s action, setting up another exciting day of college basketball betting for Friday. Here are Friday night's games that hold potential upset value – at least against the college basketball pointspreads:
No. 7 Washington Huskies vs. No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs (+5, 140.5)
Guard play will dictate the pace of this game which, according to BetUS Sportsbook oddsmakers’ 140.5-point total, should be fast and furious. The Huskies are led by junior sparkplug Isaiah Thomas, who lifted Washington to the Pac-10 Tournament title with a buzzer beater in a win over Arizona. He scores almost 17 points per game for an offense that puts up an average of 83.5 points – third most the nation.
Going against Thomas is Georgia’s ready-for-the-pros guard Travis Leslie. He scores 14.5 points per game and will have the size advantage, at 6-foot-4, over the 5-foot-9 Thomas. Behind Leslie, the Georgia Bulldogs have a talented frontcourt which is far more polished that UW’s big men - namely Trey Thompkins, who is on the radar of plenty of NBA teams.
No. 11 VCU Rams vs. No. 6 Georgetown Hoyas (-5, 134)
The VCU Rams proved they belonged with college basketball’s best by thumping Southern Cal in the opening round. Now the Rams put their Colonial pedigree up against the Big East. Virginia Commonwealth has been a terrific bet in the NCAA Tournament, going 5-0 ATS in its last five tourney tilts.
Georgetown did not play well down the home stretch of the season and fell to red-hot UConn in the Big East Tournament. However, the Hoyas return guard Chris Wright, who has been out of action with a broken hand since late February. Wright scores 13 points per game and has plenty of NCAA Tournament experience.
No. 14 St. Peter’s Peacocks vs. No. 3 Purdue Boilermakers (-14.5, 120)
A No. 14-over-No. 3 upset isn’t on most brackets, but the Peacocks play that knockdown, drag ‘em out style that oozes upset. St. Peter’s is one of the best defensive teams in the country, giving up just under 60 points per game and allowing opponents to shoot only 37.4 percent from the floor – third lowest in Division 1. That hard-nosed style of play has led to an 8-2 ATS mark in the Peacocks’ last 10 games.
Purdue is still kicking itself after a rough loss to Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament. The Boilermakers fired 37 percent from the field and were constantly beat on the boards. Purdue does have an elite talent in JaJuan Johnson, who, at 6-foot-10, should dominate a small St. Peter’s frontcourt. The big question is if the Boilermakers’ perimeter players can knock down open looks when the Peacocks double and triple-team Johnson.
