NCAA Baskteball Odds: Nebraska at No 22 Creighton
Sunday, December 04, 2011
Frank Martin
Coming off perhaps its most impressive victory of the season, No. 22 Creighton Bluejays and its high-scoring offense appear to be in good shape to reclaim state bragging rights when it welcomes Nebraska Cornhuskers – one of the tougher defensive teams in the nation – to the CenturyLink Center on Sunday.
Creighton showed incredible resiliency in its latest win at San Diego State on Wednesday, overcoming a 17-point first-half deficit to pull out an 85-83 victory. Sophomore forward Doug McDermott – the third-leading scorer in Division I – continued his early-season dominance with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite holding Wake Forest 20 points below its season average, Nebraska fell short in its own two-point decision on Wednesday, allowing the Demon Deacons to convert a game-winning layup with less than five seconds remaining in a 55-53 setback.

The Bluejays have opened as 8.5-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Basketball Odds.
Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-2): The Cornhuskers tied a season high by attempting 23 3-pointers against Wake Forest, but hit a season-low six shots from beyond the arc. With so many 3-point attempts, Nebraska managed just four free throw attempts, which was the lowest number by a Husker team since Doc Sadler's first season and only the second time in six years that Nebraska had attempted less than five free throws in a game.
Creighton Bluejays (6-0): McDermott’s effort against San Diego State was his second consecutive 25-10 performance. After averaging 14.9 points and 7.2 rebounds in his freshman season, McDermott has been one of the nation's top players early in 2011-12, averaging 23.7 points and 8.5 rebounds to lead an offense that is scoring 88.8 points per game.
1.
The Cornhuskers hold a 25-19 advantage
in the all-time series, winning three of their last five meetings against the
Bluejays with Sadler on the sidelines.
2. With a double-double on Sunday, McDermott can become the first
Bluejay with three straight double-doubles since Nate King during the 1993-94
season.
3. Entering
play on Saturday, Creighton’s 45.1 shooting from the 3-point line is better
than the field goal percentage of all but 123 Division I schools.
