NCAA Basketball Betting: March Madness Futures Update - Jimmer Fredette

The first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament are in the books, and NCAA basketball betting fans are already gearing up for the Sweet 16. Here’s your March Madness futures odds update.

No. 1 seed Ohio State Buckeyes (11/4 odds) continued crushing the competition with a 98-66 romp over George Mason. The Buckeyes look absolutely unstoppable right now, but they face a tough challenge in the Sweet 16. Ohio State draws No. 4 Kentucky (14/1), which advanced after topping West Virginia 71-63.

It wasn’t pretty, but top-seeded Duke (4/1) moved on with a 73-71 win over Michigan. The Duke Blue Devils needed a last-second miss to survive against the Wolverines, but a win is a win. They draw No. 5 Arizona (60/1) next. The Kentucky Wildcats have been cardiac kids so far, topping Memphis by two points in the first round and Texas by one point in the second round.

With top-seed Pittsburgh done in the Southeast, No. 2 Florida Gators (14/1) is in the driver’s seat. The Gators are going to have their hands full this week, though, as they’ll square off against Jimmer Fredette and No. 3 BYU (30/1). Fredette is adding to his legend, as he’s scored 34 and 32 points in the tournament thus far.

As far as Cinderellas are concerned, No. 11 VCU (80/1) certainly qualifies. After downing Georgetown in the first round, the Rams shocked No. 3 Purdue with a 94-76 victory in the second round. Virginia Commonwealth will contend with No. 10 Florida State (30/1) in the Sweet 16.

The No. 12 Richmond Spiders (80/1) are right behind VCU in the Cinderella category. The Spiders just might be the hottest team in the country. They upset Vanderbilt in the first round before cruising past No. 13 Morehead State 65-48. Richmond has won 14 consecutive games—not to mention covering nine straight.

Richmond faces an uphill battle, though, as it will take on the lone remaining No. 1 seed—Kansas—in the next round. The Jayhawks (9/4) pulled away late against Illinois in the second round and are poised to add yet another Final Four appearance to their impressive resume.
