NCAA Basketball: Bears vs Sooners
Saturday, February 27, 2010
By BetUS.com
At this time of year, some teams are trying to make their moves for the NCAA Tournament, while others are just trying to get the season finished. We’ll have one of each of these teams squaring off in the college basketball betting odds Saturday in Norman, OK.
Baylor Bears (21-6 SU, 12-8 ATS) at Oklahoma Sooners (13-14 SU, 10-14 ATS)
Saturday, February 27: 1:30 p.m.
Here are some NCAA Betting Trends which may impact this game:
Baylor: 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games
Baylor: The total has gone OVER in 10 of their last 14 games
Oklahoma: 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games
Oklahoma: 0-5 SU in their last 5 games
Simply put, there has been no team in college basketball more disappointing than the Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma started out the year expected to compete with Kansas and Texas in the Big XII, but has been an utter disaster, losing their last five in a row and eight of their last 10.
No one symbolizes the plight of the Oklahoma Sooners quite like guard Willie Warren. Projected to be one of the top guards in the country, Warren has hardly lived up to the hype, and has spent the better part of this season clashing with coach Jeff Capel. Because of injury, Warren isn’t expected to play Saturday, which might be the best news of all for Oklahoma Sooners.

In his place, freshman guard Tommy Mason-Griffin has stepped up, and been one of the few bright spots in this otherwise dismal season. He averages 14 points a game, and leads this team with close to five assists a game. Keith “Tiny,” Gallon is a force down low, averaging 10 points and eight rebounds a contest as well.
As for Baylor, not nearly as much was expected of them as was the Sooners this year, yet they have exceeded everyone’s opinions and find themselves as one of the top teams in the Big XII.
The Bears are one of college basketball’s highest scoring teams, averaging 76 points a game. Their best player is season guard Tweety Carter, a versatile point that is second on this team in scoring, and also averages over six assists per game. LaceDarius Dunn is the leading scorer, averaging 19 points a game, while Ekpe Udoh is a force down low, averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Coming into this game, the most important question is the simplest one: What has Oklahoma done so far this season, to make us believe that they’ll be competitive Saturday?
Watching the Sooners, there just doesn’t seem to be even the most basic commitment to running a half court offense, or playing defense. They give up an average of 83 points per game (ranked 284 in college basketball). Why will Saturday be any different?
Because of it, take Baylor. They haven’t been a great bet of late, but they’ll be sure to show up Saturday. As they jockey for NCAA Tournament position, they can’t afford a slip up.
The Baylor Bears are the pick in Saturday’s betting odds. Take them, and don’t look back!
