NBA Playoff Odds: Bulls vs Hawks and Lakers vs Mavericks on May 6

The Los Angeles Lakers go to Big D to take on the Dallas Mavericks as not only an NBA Playoff betting dog in the BetUS Sportsbook, but also 0 and 2 in the series.
The Lakers had their ups and downs during the regular season, but most hoops handicappers wrote the downs off as L.A. simply taking their time and saving their legs for the playoffs. Nobody can use that excuse in this series. L.A. lost the first 2 games in this playoff series at home.
In the other game on Friday night, the Chicago Bulls travel to Atlanta to take on the Hawks with designs of wrestling back home court advantage. Check out previews for both games below.
NBA Playoffs – May 6 Games
- Chicago Bulls at Atlanta Hawks
Where: Phillips Arena, Atlanta, Georgia
When: 7:00 pm EST
BetUS Sportsbook NBA Odds: Chicago -2 ½
Analysis: I watched the Chicago Bulls beat the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night 86 to 73, and cover the NBA Playoff odds in the BetUS Sportsbook as 9 point favorites. One observation kept coming to me, Chicago is simply better than the Hawks. I love the Hawks’ spirit. There isn’t a team in these playoffs, maybe with the exception of the Memphis Grizzlies, that have as much heart as the Atlanta Hawks, but when it comes down to it, they just aren’t as good as the Chicago Bulls. If the Bulls play their game, awesome defense, emphasis on rebounding, etc., the Hawks won’t win another game in this series. Atlanta shot only 33.8% from the field against Chicago in Game 2.
Chicago shot only 39.3% but Derrick Rose, their best player, was only 10 from 27 from the field meaning that the Bulls found a way to beat the ATL by 13 points with D. Rose having an off night shooting wise. Chicago out rebounded Atlanta 58 to 39. That’s amazing. I don’t see Atlanta closing the rebounding margin by that much in Game 3 meaning that Chicago could roll to a double-digit victory on Friday night and easily squash the online NBA Playoff betting spread.
- Los Angeles Lakers at Dallas Mavericks
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
When: 9:30 pm EST
BetUS Sportsbook NBA Odds: Dallas -2
Analysis: I had a conversation with a friend of mine about the Lakers versus Dallas series on Wednesday before tip-off. I tld him to stay away from L.A. because they had allowed Dallas to shoot 49% from the field against them in Game 1. He didn’t listen. In Game 2, Kobe’s team, with their backs almost touching the wall, allowed the Mavericks to shoot only 42% from the field…and, it didn’t matter. What it means is that the Lakers have no answer for the Dallas Mavericks.
The Mavericks are just a better team than the Lakers because their bench players, Jason Terry, Jose Barea, Peja, are better than L.A.’s bench players, Steve Blake, Shannon Brown and Matt Barnes. Lamar Odom doesn’t really count as a bench player since either he or Derek Fisher suck it up every night. Neither guy is on in the same game. Combined, Fish and Lamar scored an awesome 10 points in Game 2. So, they both blew on Wednesday night. Jason Kidd and Barea are abusing Fisher while Lamar can’t guard Dirk or Shawn Marion. L.A. just isn’t as good this season as they were last season. Bottom Line. I like Dallas to beat the NBA Playoff betting spread in Game 3 and take a commanding 3 to 0 series lead.
