NBA Odds: San Antonio and Denver Highlight Saturday Night Action

The San Antonio Spurs taking on the Utah Jazz as likely basketball betting favorites and the Denver Nuggets hosting the Minnesota T’Wolves are the two games on Saturday, April 9, that hoops handicappers will most likely want to check out.

In another, somewhat interesting game, the Los Angeles Clippers travel to Houston to battle the Rockets.  I’ve got previews of all 3 games below.

April 9 – NBA Games

** Records and stats not counting Friday games.

- Los Angeles Clippers (31-48) at Houston Rockets (41-38)
Where:  Toyota Center, Houston, Texas
When:  8:30 pm EST

BetUS Sportsbook NBA OddsHouston -3 ½

Analysis:  The Houston Rockets have fallen on hard times in the online NBA odds betting book.  After going 4 and 1 ATS in the first 5 games of their last 10, the Rockets have gone 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 games.  Houston is 5 and 1 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 2 days of rest.  Houston is also 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 games versus a team with a winning percentage below .500.

The Rockets are 2 and 5 ATS in their last 7 versus a team from the Western Conference, however, but that’s not enough of a bad trend for me to go with the Clippers in this Saturday matchup.  LAC has gone 4 and 10 ATS in the last 14 meetings.  Houston just matches up well with the Clippers.

Utah Jazz (37-42) at San Antonio Spurs (60-19)
Where:  AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas
When:  8:30 pm EST

BetUS Sportsbook NBA OddsSan Antonio -6 ½

Analysis:  There aren’t a lot of NBA odds betting trends that favor the Jazz in this game.  Utah is 4-16-1 ATS in their last 21 games versus a team with a winning percentage above .600.  The Jazz is also 5-21-1 ATS in its last 27 games versus a team with a winning straight up record.  The trends are much more favorable in regards to the Spurs in this matchup.

San Antonio is 5 and 1 ATS in their last 6 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.  The Spurs are also 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS victory while the Jazz is 2 and 10 against the spread in the last 12 meetings in San Antonio.

- Minnesota Timberwolves (17-62) at Denver Nuggets (48-30)
Where:  Pepsi Center, Denver, Colorado
When:  9:00 pm EST

BetUS Sportsbook NBA Odds:  Denver -8 ½

Analysis:  Minnesota has little chance of actually competing with the Denver Nuggets against the moneyline NBA odds on Saturday.  The T’Wolves are 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.  Not only that, but they are 3 and 13 against the spread in their last 16 games playing on 2 days of rest.  One trend that could throw Denver backers, including this one, for a loop is the fact that Minny is 7 and 0 against the spread in the last 7 meetings in Denver, but Denver is 9-1-1 against the spread in their last 11 games at home versus a team with a losing record on the road.

The Nuggets are also 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 home games.  Denver is 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games versus the Western Conference.  I have to believe that the Nuggets can cover against the T’Wolves on April 9.
