NBA Odds: Lakers Try to Keep Season Alive in Game 4 vs Mavericks

Yes, the No. 8 Memphis Grizzlies upset the No. 1 San Antonio Spurs in this year’s NBA playoffs. But you would have to call what Dallas is doing to the two-time champion Los Angeles Lakers the most shocking playoff result in recent memory as the Mavericks can complete a sweep of the champs on Sunday afternoon. Bet on Lakers-Mavericks Game 4 with Bodog Sportsbook’s NBA odds.

No team ever has rallied from a 0-3 hole in the NBA playoffs – it’s the only major U.S. sport where that hasn’t happened. It is just stunning to see what Dallas is doing to a team that all of a sudden looks very old outside of Andrew Bynum. Remember that this franchise has won five titles in the past 11 seasons, but it might be time to rebuild if it loses tonight.

The Lakers can’t stop Dirk Nowitzki, who had 32 points in the Game 3 98-92 victory. L.A. has been outscored by 27 points in fourth quarters this series, including 32-20 in Game 3. Los Angeles went 8-for-22 from the field in the fourth quarter and missed all six of its 3-point shots. The Mavericks went 9-of-15 from the field and hit 5-of-8 3-pointers.

And Kobe Bryant has been just OK but certainly not great: he was held to just 17 points in Game 3 and was scoreless in the final 4:33. Back to Nowitzki for a minute. He outscored Bryant again in the fourth quarter, 9-4. And while not known for his defense, he seems to be doing a number on a massively struggling Pau Gasol, who had three points in the fourth quarter of Game 3 and just 12 overall. The Lakers will get back Ron Artest for Game 4, but will that matter?

Today’s game could well be the end of the NBA’s best dynasty since Michael Jordan’s Bulls as well as the Lakers as we know them. And it’s also expected to be the end of Phil Jackson’s Hall of Fame coaching career. Jackson, who has won 11 titles, has never been down 3-0 in a series, much less been swept, in 20 years as an NBA coach.

Can the Mavs do the unthinkable and sweep the Lakers? Bet now at Bodog Sportsbook!
