The Denver Nuggets are trying to prove an NBA team can make it through the playoffs and maybe even win without a superstar, making them an interesting team to watch and an interesting NBA basketball Free pick. Tonight they take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in Denver in the first of two match-ups between these teams in the final games of regular season.
- Oklahoma City Thunder (50-26) vs. Denver Nuggets (47-29)
Tuesday, April 5 at 9 P.M. ET
At: Pepsi Center, Denver
NBA Basketball Odds:
Denver Nuggets -5.5
Oklahoma City Thunder +5.5
Game Total: 207.5
Denver proved they are a playoff-worthy team on Sunday, beating the LA Lakers at Staples Center in Los Angeles 95-90, a game in which Denver was the +6.5-point underdog. The Nuggets broke the Lakers’ 10-game home winning streak. Denver has been working on its defense since trading Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks and has held opponents to just 94.8 points per game since then.
Oklahoma City is going to put Denver’s defensive strategies to the test tonight, as they are on an offensive tear lately, averaging 109.4 points per game during their recent five-game winning streak before being held to the low-nineties in their most recent two games. OKC is looking to put a Saturday 98-92 loss to the Clippers behind them.
OKC’s offense is built around superstar forward Kevin Durant, (27.7 ppg), who is a little worried about tonight’s match-up, since Oklahoma has not beaten the Nuggets in Denver since 2007, something to consider in your basketball free pick.
Denver “is playing very, very well,” Durant said. “They're very hot since the trade. We got to bring our A game.”
The Denver Nuggets are looking to finish the season with as many wins on the board as they can muster. “I'm a winner,” said Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin after his team beat the Lakers Sunday. “I don't go out there for stats. I go out to win games. With the game on the line, you just have to be as aggressive as possible.” Ranked 5th, the Nuggets are three games behind OKC and can end up with home-court advantage in the playoffs if they keep winning.
The NBA betting enthusiasts should note Denver’s excellent defense when thinking about the over/under. The under is 4-0 in Denver’s past four games and 8-1 in the past nine. Denver is 7-1-1 ATS in their past nine home games, and OKC is 2-5-1 in their past eight games.
NBA Basketball Free Pick: Take the Nuggets while they’re hot.
