Michigan Wolverines and Arkansas Razorbacks Basketball Prediction

by Joe Rodriguez
No. 19 Michigan Wolverines will take a one-game break from Big Ten Conference play when it visits Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday at Bud Walton Arena.
The Wolverines, who are coming off a 60-59 victory over No. 9 Michigan State, have struggled away from Crisler Center so far this year. Michigan has lost all three of its true road games this season, including an ugly 75-59 loss at Iowa last weekend.
Arkansas, meanwhile, is coming off an 86-63 loss at No. 2 Kentucky, but has won 11 straight at home. Michigan leads the all-time series 3-2.

Justbet Sportsbook currently have the Razorbacks listed as Even-point favorites versus the Wolverines.
Michigan Wolverines (15-4): Michigan put together one of its finest offensive performances in the win against the Spartans, converting on 51 percent of its shots while committing just eight turnovers. However, that performance came at home — where the Wolverines are 12-0 — and it's been a different story on the road, where they've struggled to find a rhythm. The Wolverines have lost each of their two conference road games, and shot just 38 percent in the loss to the Hawkeyes. Michigan hasn't faced an SEC opponent since playing Tennessee in the first round of last year's NCAA Tournament, a 75-45 victory.
Arkansas Razorbacks (13-5): The young Razorbacks will get their fourth crack at a ranked opponent, having previously gone 1-2 against top 25 teams. But the Wolverines, led by Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Evan Smotrycz — three of the most dynamic scorers in the Big Ten — could be hard for Arkansas to slow down. The Razorbacks allow 63 points per game, but have struggled defensively against SEC teams. They've given up at least 86 points or more in two of their last four games, and will need to do a strong job defending against Michigan's outside shooting.
1. These schools haven’t met since the 1997 NIT semifinals. Michigan won 77-62.
2. Michigan is one of seven teams to have two wins over top 10 opponents.
3. The Wolverines are 18-0 when scoring 80 or more in the John Beilein era.
BASKETBALL PREDICTION: Razorbacks 69, Wolverines 66.
