Dec 27th NCAA Basketball Odds: No 11 Wisconsin vs Nebraska
Tuesday, December 27, 2011
Frank Martin
Outside a pair of difficult losses to two of the top teams in the country, No. 11 Wisconsin Badgers breezed through its non-conference schedule and appears poised for another run at a Big Ten championship. What is less clear is how competitive the Badgers’ next opponent will be in their inaugural season in the conference.
Wisconsin suffered consecutive setbacks against No. 6 North Carolina and No. 13 Marquette, but has blitzed most of its other 11 opponents en route to a 28.8-point margin of victory. The Badgers will attempt to put together their second six-game winning streak of the season on Tuesday when they travel to Lincoln to face Nebraska in its first-ever Big Ten conference game.
The Huskers are on a season-high four-game winning streak, but have been far from impressive in recent home wins against Alcorn State and Central Michigan. Nebraska Cornhuskers leads the all-time series over Wisconsin, 10-6, but the schools have not met since 1998.

The Badgers have opened as 8.5-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Basketball Odds.
Wisconsin Badgers (11-2): The Badgers are holding opponents to 44.7 points per game and 33.5 percent from the field -- both marks are best in the nation. Wisconsin is coming off Saturday’s 34-point rout of Mississippi Valley State in which it attempted 44 free throws, 23 more than its previous season high. The Badgers are led by All-American candidate Jordan Taylor, who owns a 3.3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio for a team that leads the nation in fewest turnovers per game.
Nebraska Cornhuskers (8-3): Some of the Huskers’ recent struggles can be attributed to the absence of two key players: center Jorge Brian Diaz (foot) and sixth man Dylan Talley (thigh bruise). The second- and fourth-leading scorers on the team, respectively, are highly questionable against Wisconsin. Despite an offensive attack that ranks 208th in the nation, Nebraska has been exceptional at the foul line, where their 76.3 percent shooting is the best in the conference and 11th in the country.
1.
Wisconsin has
limited 17 consecutive opponents to 65 points or fewer – the longest such
streak in the nation.
2. Nebraska’s Bo
Spencer is one of two Big Ten players averaging at least 15 points and four
assists (Penn State’s Tim Frazier).
3. The
Badgers have held 11 of their 13 opponents to their season-low point total.
Only five opponents have even scored more than 45 points against them.
