College Hoops Betting Odds: UC-Santa Barbara at Washington

Washington Huskies may be one of the better teams in the Pac-12, it has just played such a difficult schedule that few are noticing. The Huskies have lost to three teams that either are currently or were ranked in the top 25, and fell in overtime at Nevada. Lorenzo Romar’s team hasn’t been getting run over by the good teams either, coming within six points of knocking off No. 5 Duke at Madison Square Garden last Saturday after falling, 79-77, to No. 11 Marquette in New York on a last-second 3-pointer. Washington will welcome another tough opponent in UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos when it returns for its first home game since Nov. 25. The Gauchos are no strangers to tough losses, with each of their setbacks coming in overtime. Santa Barbara won the first leg of its five-game road trip with a 65-61 triumph at San Diego on Wednesday.

Where: Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, Seattle, Washington
TV: 10 p.m. ET, ROOT Sports (Washington)

The Huskies have opened as 8-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Basketball Odds.

UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos (5-2): The Gauchos lost to San Diego State, 76-75, in overtime on Nov. 26 and then fell to then-No. 20 UNLV in double overtime four nights later. UC Santa Barbara is clearly not intimidated by top-level competition, as it will visit California on Monday before a trip to BYU later next week. After averaging 81.8 points in their first six games, the Gauchos came back from a 13-day break and looked rusty at San Diego. Leading scorers Orlando Johnson (22.1) and James Nunnally (18.0) were held to a combined 26 points.

Washington Huskies (4-4): The Huskies rank seventh nationally in rebounding and should be able to take advantage of UC Santa Barbara in the paint with Terrence Ross and Aziz N’Diaye. Washington prefers to play an up-tempo pace and is averaging over 80 points, with Ross (16.5) and C.J. Wilcox (16.5) leading the way. The Huskies trailed by as many as 19 points in the second half against Duke but battled back to within 78-72 in the final minute.

NCAA Basketball Betting

1. Washington has won 32 straight non-conference home games.

2. Romar’s next victory will be his 200th, making him the second-fastest coach to reach to mark in Huskies history.

3. Gauchos coach Bob Williams needs one win to pass Jerry Primm (222) for first on the school’s all-time list.
