College Basketball Betting Line: Penn State vs No 11 Michigan State

The Michigan State Spartans are playing their final two games with a chance to share in the Big Ten title. MSU finishes the season against Michigan Sunday night but before that, they have what should be an easy win over the Penn State Nittany Lions.

The College Basketball Odds makers are expecting an easy win for Michigan State, with the college basketball betting line favoring the Spartans by -13 points over Penn State.
Despite the weak competition, the Spartans are not taking this game lightly, they have lost two at home and they are looking to avoid losing three at home for the first time in 13 years. That hasn’t hurt them too badly in the National rankings; the Spartans still ranked 11th and a share of the Big Ten title could move them up a little before the selection committee makes their March Madness picks on selection Sunday.
Point guard Talor Battle leads the Nittany Lions, Battle leads Penn State Nittany Lions in points, rebound, assists and steals (19, 5.5, 4.1 and 1.2) but he hasn’t had the help to get the Nittany Lions over the hump this season. Battle isn’t expected to declare for the NBA draft after this season as he’s ranking well down most draft boards. He’ll most likely return to Penn State for his senior year and barring a major setback or amazing progress, battle will likely be a late first round selection.
The Penn State Nittany Lions is languishing near the bottom of the Big Ten with a 3-13 in conference record. Against the Spread, the Nittany Lions are 12-13-1 but on the road, they are much better going 8-2 ATS in 10 road opportunities. One more college basketball betting trend to consider before making your bet is the Penn State Nittany Lions are 9-1 ATS in their past 10 as a road underdog.
Michigan State sits at 12-4 in conference and 22-7 overall but more importantly they have been bad against the spread, winning 11 and losing 17 ATS. At home, they are reasonably better with a .500 record in 12 games but almost all of those wins came early in the season, as they are 0-5 ATS in their past five games.
Head to Head the Penn State Nittany Lions are 4-12-1 in their past 17 meetings but I don’t think that will matter much here, Penn State has been able to keep things close on the road while Michigan State Spartans haven’t been able to meet expectations while playing at home.
Michigan State Spartans should keep their hope of a share of the Big Ten title alive with a win over Penn State but Penn State’s Talor Battle will light it up against the Spartans, he should be enough to keep the score within 13 points.
