BetUs Best Teams to win are Tennessee, Arizona and Marquette

The NCAA Tournament is here and hoops handicappers should already be in the midst of crazy March Madness basketball betting! Thursday is an insane day in the BetUS Sportsbook, but Friday is almost just as insane.

BetUS Sportsbook have singled out 3 games that I believe could lead to good profits for hoops handicappers on Friday. Unlike my Thursday article, where I picked 3 teams that basketball bettors could wager on the moneyline at above even money, I’ve got 2 games where I’ve chosen a team to cover the spread and a single underdog pick on the moneyline for Friday’s contests.

March 18 – NCAA Basketball Games

9 Tennessee Volunteers (19-14) vs. 8 Michigan Wolverines (20-13)
Where: Time Warner Cable Arena, Charlotte, North Carolina
When: 12:40 pm EST
TV: truTV

NCAA Basketball Odds: Tennessee -2

Analysis: Based on their recent play, Tennessee Volunteers to cover probably isn’t one of the best March Madness predictions to make for Friday’s games. The Volunteers have gone 1 and 7 against the spread in their last 8 games. The team they face on Friday, the Michigan Wolverines, are no slouch. Michigan has gone 9 and 1 against the spread in their last 10 games. Now, that’s impressive!

Why, then, do I like Tennessee on Friday? The Tennessee Volunteers are decent at stopping the 3-point shot. Teams shoot only 33.2% against them from behind the arc and success on offense for the Wolverines is predicated upon them hitting the 3-point shot. If the Wolverines’ 3-pointers aren’t falling, then Tennessee should be able to control this game and beat Michigan straight up. I believe the Vols step up their game on Friday and show that they deserve to be in the NCAA Tournament.

12 Memphis Grizzlies (25-9) vs. 5 Arizona Wildcats (27-7)
Where: Bank of Oklahoma Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma
When: 2:45 pm EST
TV: CBS

NCAA Basketball Odds: Arizona -5 ½

Analysis: Arizona Wildcats isn’t exactly a fantastic covering team. They’ve gone 4 and 6 against the spread in their last 10 games, but the Wildcats are one of the more solid NCAA Tournament picks to cover in the first round because they face a team that isn’t very good at covering games either. Memphis Grizzlies went 12-17-2 against the spread during the regular season.

The Tigers have covered in their last 3 games, but before that, they had gone 0-6-1 ATS in their previous 7 games. Memphis doesn’t have a player on their squad that can contend with Arizona’s Derrick Williams who is averaging 19 points and 8 boards per game and shooting an incredible 61.5% from the field. Williams could dominate Memphis all by himself on Friday.

11 Marquette Golden Eagles (20-14) vs. 6 Xavier Musketeers (24-7)
Where: Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, Ohio
When: 7:25 pm EST
TV: truTV

NCAA Basketball Odds: Marquette +120

Analysis: This is the best Friday game that I see where a team could win a game straight up in the BetUS Sportsbook at above even money odds. Xavier is a good squad but they didn’t face the same quality of opponent that Marquette did during the regular season. Not only that, but Marquette Golden Eagles upset West Virginia in the Big East Tournament and then was down by only 5 to Louisville at the half of their loss to the Cardinals in their second game during the Big East tourney.

If Marquette’s mostly junior college transfer players can play two solid halves, then they can upset the Xavier Musketeers and put some dollars into the pockets of gamblers on Friday.
