Saturday, January 29, 2011
by BetUS.com
The three best teams in the NBA Southwest Division, all as likely NBA odds spread betting favorites, take to the hardwood on Saturday, January 29th.
The San Antonio Spurs, the best team in the NBA, hosts the Houston Rockets while the Dallas Mavericks battle the Atlanta Hawks at home. The third NBA Southwest team that figures to be favored on Saturday is the New Orleans Hornets who throw down versus the Sacramento Kings in ARCO Arena.

Jan. 29th – NBA Games
** Stats not counting Thursday or Friday games.
- Houston Rockets (22-25) at San Antonio Spurs (39-7)
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas
When: 8:30 pm EST
NBA Basketball Odds: San Antonio -9 ½
Analysis: San Antonio is only 14-11-1 against the NBA betting spread at home this season, but they should easily cover the spread, if it’s fair, versus the Houston Rockets on Saturday night. The Spurs go into Saturday’s contest after playing in 3 straight games on the road.
San Antonio has been phenomenal lately by winning 9 out of their last 10 straight up and going 6-3-1 against the spread in their last 10 games. Houston has gone 5 and 2 against the spread in their last 7 but they just don’t match up well versus San Antonio in my opinion.
Sure, the Spurs needed overtime to beat the Rockets 124 to 121 the last time the two teams played last November, but the Spurs are better now than they were then and the Rockets are worse now than they were then.
- Atlanta Hawks (29-17) at Dallas Mavericks (29-15)
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
When: 8:30 pm EST
NBA Basketball Odds: Dallas -4 ½
Analysis: The Mavericks are fired up again after weathering Storm Injury Dirk. Now that Storm Injury Dirk has turned into Dirk scoring at will again, the Mavericks are winning games and covering spreads in the online sportsbook.
Big D is now 10-12-2 against the spread at home this season. That’s not bad. Atlanta does well on the road versus the spread, 14 and 11 this season, but Dallas appears determined to win, baby, win! That type of attitude usually leads to covers in the BetUS Sportsbook. I hope it does on Saturday.
- New Orleans Hornets (31-16) at Sacramento Kings (10-33)
Where: ARCO Arena, Sacramento, California
When: 10:00 pm EST
NBA Basketball Odds: New Orleans -6 ½
Analysis: No team has been hotter in the NBA in the month of January than the New Orleans Hornets. CP3’s squad is a terrific 3 and 1 against the NBA spread lines in their last 4 games. They’re an amazing 13 and 2 straight up in their last 15 games and have won 10 games in a row.
New Orleans is allowing a league best 91.2 points per game on average. Since the Kings only score 97 points per game on average and shoot less than 44% from the field per game, it’s obvious how this one is going to end. The Hornets should blow the Kings out of their own building on January 29th.
