2011 NBA Playoffs: Bulls and Spurs, Best Bets to win NBA Championship

It’s not often that neither one of the two best teams, based on record, in the NBA Betting is going off as the favorite to win the NBA Championship in the BetUS Sportsbook but that’s exactly what’s happening when teams tip-off for the 2011 NBA Playoffs this weekend.  That doesn’t mean that neither team is one of the best bets to win the NBA Championship this season, though.

Neither the Chicago Bulls, who have the best record in the NBA overall this season, nor the San Antonio Spurs, who have the best record out of any team in the Western Conference, are favored in the sports book to win the title this season.  Keep reading for the best bets to win the championship in 2011.

NBA Championship:  Best Bets

** Odds listed in BetUS Sportsbook are as of this writing.

Best Bet:  Chicago Bulls +400

The Bulls are the number 1 overall ranked seed in the entire NBA Playoffs.  They finished the regular season with the best record in the NBA, 62 and 20, and should be respected more than they are at +400 in the BetUS Sportsbook.  The Miami Heat is the favorites at +275 while the Los Angeles Lakers are the +300 second choice.  Is there a reason why the Bulls are the third choice in the sports book to win the NBA Championship?  Not really.  Likely MVP of the league Derrick Rose plays point-guard for them. Rose is averaging 25 points and 7.7 assists per game.  The man is an absolute beast on the court.  Not only that, but the Bulls have the number 1 ranked defensive rebounding team in the NBA.

They have the number 2 ranked defense in the NBA based on points allowed.  They have the number 2 ranked team in the NBA based on field goal percentage allowed.  Offensively, they’re the number 2 ranked rebounding team in the NBA.  Because of the odds, how can the Bulls possibly not be one of the best bets to win the NBA Championship?

Second Best Bet:  San Antonio Spurs +600

Tim Duncan is back and that, almost more than anything, is the reason to like the San Antonio Spurs to win the NBA Championship this season.  The odds definitely help since the Spurs are going off at two times the odds of the Los Angeles Lakers and more than two times the odds of the Miami Heat.  San Antonio finished the regular season losing 6 out of their last 10 regular season games, but Duncan is barely starting to get back into a rhythm, the Spurs have one of the best and deepest benches in the league and up until the final game of the regular season San Antonio had the best record in the NBA.  The Spurs could do it.  They too are one of the best bets to win the NBA Championship.

Other Best Bets

- Oklahoma City Thunder +1400 - - The Thunder finished up the season going 7 and 3 straight up in their final 10 games.

- Dallas Mavericks +1600 - - The Mavs definitely didn’t stumble home in the stretch going 4 and 0 in their final 4 games.

- Denver Nuggets +6000 - - Yes, they’re a big underdog but sometimes one of the best bets to win the NBA Championship year-to-year might just be one of the big underdogs.  The Nuggets won game after game after the All-Star Break.  That makes them a serious consider team to wager given the +6000 odds.
